Should come as no surprise, this. But the PS5 reveal event was one of the most watched gaming livestreams in history, and on an entirely different level as far as other conferences go.
Sony was forced to hold a digital announcement due to the coronavirus situation.
But millions tuned in to watch the hardware reveal of the upcoming PlayStation 5 console on YouTube, while other platforms like Twitch, Mixer, and Facebook Live also saw an audience. The English recording alone on the company’s official channel has surpassed 12 million views.
eSports Charts did a thorough analysis of the event, concluding that 7.2 million viewers were connected through four different platform, with an average of 4 million views.
In fact, comparing it to The Game Awards 2019 livestream and the Xbox E3 2019 conference, and the PS5 reveal event is on an entirely different level. There was a much bigger audience, notably more media attention, and a wider reach.
Needless to say, the message got through just fine around the globe.
And that’s all that matters.
