Sony has filed for a new trademark in the US, and it is for the PS5 DualSense controller. This comes soon after the hardware maker revealed its next-generation console last week.
The new slogan is “Heighten Your Senses”.
A sure reference to the haptic feedback that is baked into the new controller for the PlayStation 5.
Indeed, the application makes it clear that this trademark from the Japanese giant is related to “controller for game consoles; game controllers for computer games”.
In case you have been out of the loop, the new DualSense controller for the PS5 features a range of new features over its predecessor. While the pad itself looks somewhat similar to the DualShock 4, there are subtle design changes that give the new creation a more futuristic aesthetic.
And then there are the hardware capabilities.
The highlight being the haptic feedback that will make you feel the actions your characters are performing on the screen. There is also the a new Create button. And the DualSense also features a light bar and in-built speakers to engage your senses of sights and sound.
To that end, the slogan is an excellent reference.
While the trademark application is still awaiting final approval, Sony is already using it to advertise the controller. This could be a hint that the trademark listing is simply out of date.
With the design and most of the capabilities shown off, and the slogan in the bag, the only thing that remains to confirmed is how much the DualSense controller will cost.
Most likely retail price is $49.99/£39.99, but we’ll await official confirmation.
